Why do we have to ask permission to look and feel beautiful?
Thanks to the generation of Baby Boomers, cosmetic enhancement is as common these days as going to the gym.
Women over 35 are now better than ever!
Check out others around you and you’ll see that many of your friends, colleagues, relatives and are taking a more active approach to their appearance. Countless numbers of everyday women are saying NO to looking older because they have made the decision to take better care of their skin, hands, body and health. There will always be something’s you’ll need assistance with .. so what..
You owe it to yourself to look and feel as good as you can every single day of your life … because YOU deserve it!
Isn’t this all about vanity?
First off let’s define vanity. Do a quick search on the Internet and you will find that vanity is defined “as the quality of being valueless or futile” and “an inflation of mind upon slight grounds; empty pride inspired by an overweening conceit of one's personal attainments or decorations; an excessive desire for notice or approval; pride; ostentation; conceit”.
Historically, vanity has never been a trait one aspires to. Who wants to be labeled as shallow, petty, weak, and self-centered? No one really wants to be perceived as being vain…at least no one wants to be and have others notice.
Then ask yourself this question: Are we not all a little vain?
If we didn’t have the slightest interest in vanity, we’d all throw our mirrors out the window because we’d have no use to admire ourselves in an attempt of looking our best.
If you are honest with yourself, we do care about our appearance and we do care about how we are seen by others. And as we age this perception seems to become even more important to us.
I personally believe that the attitude most women have today about how they age has little to do with vanity as it’s defined traditionally, and it has more do to with the fact that women are realizing that age is nothing but a number and it should never be the end all that measures how “old we should look and feel”.
When you don’t feel good about how you look …
it affects every aspect of your life!
If your reality is you’re not feeling your best … if you don’t like the image of yourself , you see in the mirror … if you don’t feel comfortable with your body’s size and shape … if you avoid mirrors … if you hate takingpictures … if you won’t allow your significant other to show you affection because you don’t want that person to see or feel what you’re embarrassed by … if you pretend not to hear any compliment anyone sends your way …
Does this sound like something familiar?
Women suffering from low-self esteem aren’t very kind to themselves and they usually make life difficult for anyone around them.
Guess what??? There is nothing wrong with taking pride in the way you look, recreating the image that stares back at you and admitting that the way others see you does matter.
SAY IT OUT LOUD… THE WAY I LOOK AND FEEL ABOUT ME DOES MATTER. BECAUSE i MATTER!!
Can I get a witness?
Recreating yourself is not about being selfish … it’s about taking time to **ALSO** take care of your own needs.
